4D Cellular Physiology will begin advertising for group leader positions in the fall of 2021 and will begin operating in the summer of 2022. Learn more about opportunities in Janelia’s other research areas: Mechanistic Cognitive Neuroscience, Molecular Tools and Imaging, and Computation and Theory.
Who We Are Looking For
4D Cellular Physiology will recruit up to 14 group leaders, the majority being junior group leaders, over its first few years. In addition to seeking talented and creative scientists, we want individuals who are highly collaborative and willing to take risks. We welcome applications from exceptional graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or industry scientists who come from different scientific backgrounds. Applicants should be willing to embrace the challenge of studying cells in tissues or tissue-like environments; however, since this field is relatively new, we will consider outstanding individuals who performed limited such work to-date. To create synergies, we are open to the possibility of small cluster hires.
In addition to early-career recruits, 4D Cellular Physiology will recruit senior group leaders and a Head. The Head is an accomplished mid-career scientist who can further develop and lead the effort over the 15-year period as well as mentor group leaders and early career researchers. Prior to identifying the Head, Zari Zavala-Ruiz, Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz, Nelson Spruston, and Ron Vale will lead the recruitment effort of early-career and senior group leaders starting in the fall of 2021.
We also look forward to recruiting additional scientists in our core research areas, Molecular Tools and Imaging and Computation and Theory, who are interested in developing tools and computational approaches that will aid the general mission of 4D Cellular Physiology.
