After completing their training, Janelia postdocs go on to a wide range of rewarding careers. Approximately 40 percent have gone on to faculty or group leader positions, compared to a national average of about 10 percent. Former Janelia postdocs have also accepted positions in industry, government, finance, regulation, law, and publishing.

What makes Janelia different?

All labs at Janelia are fully internally funded so postdocs are free to focus their energy and creativity on challenging, high-impact research. Janelia postdocs do not have grant writing or administrative responsibilities.

Janelia is a collaborative and supportive environment, where you will be able to work with talented tool builders, computer scientists, and theorists. Janelia postdocs have access to state-of-the-art equipment developed onsite both by and in collaboration with Janelia scientists and engineers.

Janelia takes mentorship seriously. Janelia postdocs receive one-on-one:
